A new and vibrant housing development in Chelmsford, Essex recently specified a range of bespoke Skyline solutions where ‘inspirational architecture’ is a key element.

Beaulieu Park is a charming new district set around New Hall School, which was originally King Henry VIII’s Tudor palace and estate parkland. The concept behind the development was to create a series of individually designed neighbourhoods, which connect to the wider landscape.

“This was an exciting project to get involved with as it was an open specification. This also meant that it was important to get this project absolutely correct commercially,” says John Hemphill, Skyline Technical Sales Manager at Alumasc. “Our work at Beaulieu Park, in conjunction with our customer, involved designing and manufacturing a full and comprehensive range of bespoke Skyline aluminium products such as window pods, copings, canopies, fascia and architectural feature cladding and corner post details.”

For this unique project, Skyline collaborated with our ‘Recommended Installer’ Specialised Fixings to deliver and design products that were tailored to each individual house type and plot.

“One of the most unique elements, included the design of a self-supporting, lightweight door canopy, which has been jointly developed with our and Alumasc and Specialised Fixings.”

This is not the first-time bespoke rainwater management solutions were specified for the Beaulieu Development. Previously, a range of Alumasc Skyline products were installed throughout the elegant Beaulieu Square Neighbourhood Centre, consisting of five buildings intended for community, commercial and residential uses.

The Skyline range was specially chosen for its quality and ability to cater to bespoke applications. The range includes fascia and soffits, copings, cills and surrounds and is the ideal solution for use on a varied roofline and architectural designed interfaces, with standard and fully bespoke designs available.

The Skyline range is designed to meet industry standards whilst exceeding expectations in durability, design and performance, and is suitable for contemporary and traditional architecture.

Additionally, Skyline products are available in any RAL or BS colour in a BBA approved polyester powder coating process, creating high quality finishes that will last without any colour fading.

“The biggest challenge on this project, I would say, was working to the sites construction programme and deadlines,” continues John. “However, the close working relationship between Specialised Fixings Contracts Supervisor, Marcin Wojtyra, who was part of the site delivery team, along with Alumasc allowed the project to be completed on time and within budget very successfully.

“Specialised Fixing’s team of experienced installers contributed greatly to a to ensuring that their client was extremely happy with the service provided.

From creating bespoke designs, to correctly manufacturing products, the national house builder site team have made positive comments throughout the duration of this project.”

Working with the customers site delivery team has been a highlight on this project as John points out: “they were very well organised and contributed greatly to the success of the project.”

Beaulieu Park offers a selection of contemporary new homes from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom family houses, and will have a wide range of facilities a stone’s throw away.
